Pay your kid for cleaning the room, and it will not clean its room by itself any more.

Extrinsic motivation appears to be more successful in data, but lead to dull products.

Also close to school-system and the rest of our society. Why is school not fun? Why are you interested more in learning after and before school than in school? Also close to gamification.

How would games without scoreboards feel? At least the scores would not overwhelm  intrinsic motivation through extrinsic one.
