A comparison of font-family fonts

w3cschools tells us:
sans-serif fonts for web

  • Serif
    • Times New Roman
    • Georgia
  • Sans-serif
    • Verdana
    • Arial
  • Monospace
    • Courier New
    • Lucida Console

wikipedia tells us:

  • Tahoma is pretty similiar to Verdana, but has less letter spacing.
    Both were created for computer display.
  • Tahoma is pretty much windows only.
  • Arial is pretty much a copy of Helvetica
  • Segoe UI is a simple copy of Frutiger Next
  • Segoe UI is new in Vista and supposed to replace Tahoma
