FAR: Lone Sails Review

Decent, linear, slow, atmospheric exploration game.

If you can accept the very slow nature of FAR, it has nice variety, and has nice atmosphere being built through environment, music and sound. Progression is good. The exploration is too.

7/10

Ambiguous focus between atmospheric scenery and interaction gameplay. Managing the vehicle means you can not look at the scenery. Quite irritating with how much this game focuses on atmosphere and scenery.

The central elevator in the vehicle is super annoying. Finicky, a hindrance. Super annoying when it’s the most central element in the game you constantly use.

Distant camera and small character sometimes makes gameplay somewhat difficult.

Atmosphere setting is very well done. The need for gameplay at the same time somewhat takes away from that atmosphere building, by dividing focus. Object and texture quality could have been better, and could have significantly raised the atmosphere building further.

Play-through in ~2.7 hours.
