Yoku's Island Express Review

A great, charming, atmospheric pinball-inspired action platformer with puzzle elements, great variety throughout, good guidance, great progression, semi freedom. Enjoyable throughout!

+ Great gameplay
+ Charming characters
+ Great visuals
+ Great music
+ Great, mostly bright, light atmosphere
+ Great variance throughout (in gameplay mechanics, environments, characters, …)
+ Great level design
+ Good story and secondary story elements/environment
+ Decent length (4 hours main storyline, plus additional interesting sidequests)
+ Good overview map interactivity (navigation manually through map, not through route guides or other in-play icons)
+ Sometimes/In parts humorous
* Decent guidance - semi freedom in exploration/storyline route
* Pinball mechanic is the basic idea, but not [alone] dominant. A lot of other gameplay elements and control mechanisms are added.
* Fast travel routes and shortcuts unlockable for faster exploration/backtracking

I don't really have anything bad to say. Sometimes slight frustration on specific level parts and bosses, for the challenge or because of a slight lack in intuitive visibility of task at hand. Something really noteworthy though.
