Deadbreed® Review
Not Recommended
New, fresh concepts on an otherwise standard top-down MOBA. Early access - still needs polishment. Complex pay and unlock model.
Deadbreed establishes a dark atmosphere, and makes use of a day and night cycle. Apart from the last-hit money for buying items, it introduces three additional resources you can find on the map and minion kills. These can be used in conjunction with abilities or on the map.
Dungeons can be explored (including/mainly dungeon bosses). A capture the flag is in there as well.
The game using a count-down timer and if the enemy boss could not be beat the team with the most scores wins, is an interesting concept, making the time you will spend in a game much more predictable.
The Pay-Model is overly complex and thus confusing. There are three types of keys and two currencies. There are 5 or something types of stuff to buy or temporarily unlock - heroes, items, ranks, …
The game is early access, and you can see it’s not ready for prime time yet. Missing polishment in usability and understandability.
The main problem I see is that this very complex game has such a high learning gap on entry, that few people will actually want to invest into it when there are already Dota 2 and LoL, which people likely know, have friends playing, or can learn easier.
I’m not really a top-down MOBA player, but control- and gameplay-wise, this is not worse then the others. So it may still become something interesting and fun for those that enjoy top-down MOBA.
