A Hat in Time Review
Recommended
A great third person action platformer with various movement abilities, an awesome and happy atmoshere, and great variance. The small technical issues (that do not hinder actual gameplay) prevent it from being a true masterpiece.
+ Great movement
+ Responsive controls, for the most part
+ Great level design, great variance in levels, both esthetically and gameplay wise
+ Great variance in abilities and gameplay
+ Great atmosphere; light, happy; a rather bright take/presentation on dark/hard topcis/aspects
+ Great characters and character variance
+ Good humor
+ Small hidden story elements that support the plot/world
+ Various collectibles, some hidden with good/fair hints to them
+ Steam Workshop aka modding for additional content from the community
- Audio stuttering while loading
- Brief stuttering in the first two to three seconds of the level intro camera-pan/cutscene
- Rare getting stuck/unintended position interaction; if you actually get stuck it puts you back to a safe position automatically
- I had a clipping issue on one specific moving platform; nowhere else though
- Rare camera position/placement issues
