TitanfallĀ® 2 Review
Recommended
Great game. Interesting mix of high mobility shooter and mech/titan with weapon/ability loadouts. The campaign switches between the two. The multiplayer as well.
I played through the campaign in about 4 hours.
Great movement system. Great variance. Great platforming. Good cinematics, not too disrupting, and with great animations within it. Best credits presentation I have seen made it a good ending.
Some waiting for events and cutscene lockdowns could have been less restrictive but more fluent/fast, but it was never too bothersome.
After the tutorial/training the game suggests a difficulty setting to you based on your performance, which was very welcome. It being set to hard I did occasionally die when I went in too fast, not knowing a bunch more enemies are there, or the urgency was misleading (intention is clear the area and continue, not rush through). In a way this opposes the fast movement system, but did not make it a problem.
In a way there are four central pieces to campaign gameplay and progression. Movement, shooting, titan, and cinematic/story.
I have only peeked into the multiplayer. There does not seem to be a good introduction to the multiplayer gameplay and modes. So playing against experienced players can be a challenge or potentially frustrating. It has quite a few modes to choose from and queue for. The modes are interesting and varying. There is also a four player wave defense mode.
Overall a great game.
