My Dress-Up Darling

Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi o Suru
Rating: 7

Good, enjoyable series.

Standard exaggerated insecure teen/outcast tropes, and ecchi direction.

Apart from the exaggerated insecurity, enjoyable plot and characters.

AniDB entry

The second season is decent, with some caveats.

Less lewdness, which is good for its story presentation.

A big downside for me is four or five instances of disruptive stylistic breakage. When the storytelling suddenly switches into an unrelated presenter style topic presentation, it completely breaks storytelling, immersion, and continuity. When a person suddently becomes a flying chibi low-fidelity character it breaks continuity and fundamentally grounded storytelling and presentation.

I didn’t particularly like the big investments into product worlds (game, anime, manga). I don’t think it adds to the depth of the characters or story, only subtracts from it because it’s so disconnected and thematically and stylistically different.

The second season is less focused on the development of the pair, but more on their development in their environment and with/alongside other characters. It’s a good continuation with a balanced mix of thematic changes and progression.
