Kaiju No. 8

Great setting, great fight visual animation. Overblown and exaggerated monsters, “humor”, and continuity/making sense issues.

Overall still good and enjoyable, sometimes a lot, sometimes irritating and frustrating, to me at least.

It’s something special, but embedded in a standard production with downsides/partially bad decisions and direction.

Second season is bad.

Way too many flashbacks, way too much cutting away to something else and others, way too many interruptions.
Nothing else is positively strong either. Excessively strong, over-the-top power and ability, as well as training and growth. Predictable. Non-genuine, stupid interactions and personalities. Ends in the biggest cliffhanger.
Low-fidelity intermediate animations breaking style and tension.
Bringing back the dead for some pretentious, stupid thoughts and views.
Full-in on the pretendious, predictable tropes of collective, for each other and whatnot.
A bad attempt at a pair of people insulting each other, presumably as humor, tension, or yandere (tough love).

Second season is shit.
