The anime series Frieren (2024) is very good. Calm, atmospheric, depth in characters, world, and direction, and occasionally action.

The regular flashbacks are an integral part of this anime’s direction. We follow Frieren, a long-lived elf, learning and developing their character not just through their current journey and relationships, but also their past journeys and relationships.

The journey pace is a slow and calm one, and regularly interrupted with flashbacks. Over the journey we visit many locations and people, and continuously progress through time, space, and developments.

The world is a fantasy world of magic with varied, standard humanoid races like elves, dwarves, and demons, and monsters like dragons.
