Beyond the Boundary

Rating: 6

Interesting setting, but the direction felt like business putting all the checkmarks in instead of putting consistency, atmosphere, meaning, quality first.

Episode 6 is purely absurd. Like a bad filler. Completely breaks the meaningfulness with a silly “dance to beat this monster” - and filling a full episode with it.

Episode 10 becomes purely chaotic and hard to follow, with too many time jumps.

It has a ton of lewd bait.

The later story arc becomes quite fantastical.

The revelation at the end was quite interesting, but drawn out too much for my liking (too many flashbacks and repetition).

Parts of it were enjoyable, at times even very enjoyable. Overall, it turns out mediocre, potentially worthwhile.

The “Future” movie felt much the same. At first I found it much better and captivating, which was lost across the screening much like in the series. The protagonist is incredibly dumb and they don’t talk, just so the movie story premise works and fills a movie. It’s pretty dumb.
